今次開辦CQI Q Arabica Grader Certificate課程,Tasse特別邀請了著名韓籍導師Paul Kim合作,負責整個CQI課程及考試,Paul是咖啡業界鉅子、CQI Q Arabica / Robusta Grader雙項認證導師及考官,更於2022-23年連續兩年榮獲全球僅兩位其中之一同時擁有Q Arabica / Robusta Grader資格的傑出導師 (distinguished instructor) 殊榮,絕對是極受國際同業推崇的前輩。
Paul 是現時全球20位Arabica / Robusta導師之一的SCA AST/檢查員,咖啡教學經驗逾16年,已是桃李滿門,學生來自世界各地,包括埃塞俄比亞、美國、印尼、菲律賓、中國、日本和韓國等,就連日本著名咖啡品牌 Leaves Coffee Roasters的創辦人石井康雄亦是其得意門生。


2007年,Paul在首爾創立了Paul Kim Coffee Lab,主要專注於杯測、烘焙和培訓顧問,並曾擔任各種世界級咖啡師比賽評委。撰有《Cupping Bible》、《Roasting Bible》兩本天書,講述相關專業知識,為此他亦自行做了很多資料蒐集,務求所寫真確無誤。Paul直言為了教授CQI課程東奔西走,與家人相處的時光變得少了,不過亦因為周遊列國而得以品測不同產區的咖啡,令他個人獲益良多,這也是他教學上最值得高興的事情之一。

值得一提的是,Paul活躍於CQI的咖啡部隊志願者計劃,並在過去7年中多次為菲律賓咖啡生產社區提供Q認證培訓,更在當地建立了自己的莊園 St. Paul's Coffee Farm,期望可以透過培植出優質的Robusta進而改善啡農生活。

For this CQI Q Arabica Grader Certificate course, Tasse has specially invited renowned Korean instructor Paul Kim to collaborate, who will be in charge of the entire CQI course and examinations. Paul is a giant in the coffee industry, a dual-certified CQI Q Arabica/Robusta Grader instructor and examiner. He was also awarded the title of "Distinguished Instructor" – one of only two globally – for holding both Q Arabica and Q Robusta Grader qualifications for two consecutive years (2022-2023). He is undoubtedly a senior figure highly respected by international peers.
Paul is currently one of the world's 20 SCA AST (Authorized SCA Trainer)/inspectors qualified in both Arabica and Robusta. With over 16 years of coffee teaching experience, he has educated numerous students from around the world, including those from Ethiopia, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Japan, and South Korea. Even Yasuo Ishii, founder of Japan's famous coffee brand Leaves Coffee Roasters, is among his outstanding disciples.
In 2007, Paul founded Paul Kim Coffee Lab in Seoul, focusing on cupping, roasting, and training consulting. He has also served as a judge for various world-class barista competitions. He authored two authoritative books, Cupping Bible and Roasting Bible, which elaborate on professional knowledge. To ensure accuracy, he conducted extensive research himself. Paul frankly admits that traveling around to teach CQI courses has reduced the time he spends with his family, but getting to taste coffees from different origins during his global travels has benefited him greatly – and this is one of the most rewarding aspects of his teaching career.
Notably, Paul is active in CQI's Coffee Corps volunteer program. Over the past 7 years, he has provided Q certification training to coffee-producing communities in the Philippines on multiple occasions and even established his own farm there, St. Paul's Coffee Farm. He hopes to improve the lives of coffee farmers by cultivating high-quality Robusta beans.
